Cheryl Carter’s music and theatrical odyssey began in New York
ultimately leading her “West” to Los Angeles. She continues to
move seamlessly between her singing and acting career, generating
a successful body of work. This includes her triumphant concert
at the Starlight Bowl with the Burbank Philharmonic
Orchestra.

Cheryl has recorded for Walt Disney Studios, working for
Producer David Foster on “Mickey’s Anniversary Celebration”
theme song.

Carter appeared at the Universal Gibson Amphitheatre
backing up Grammy Award Winner Michael Bolton; appearing
with him on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show and the Arsenio Hall Show.
She also sang on Bolton’s “Time, Love, and Tenderness” music
video.

A special joy of hers was appearing as Smokey
Robinson’s wife, in the music video “Ebony Eyes” duet with Rick
James and recording the 2-record album “Belafonte '89” with
legendary singer, performer, activist Harry Belafonte.

Cheryl’s Los Angeles singing appearances include
Lunaria’s, The Cinegrill, The Wiltern, BB King’s Blues Club, The
Biltmore, Aura’s, Vitello's and Holly Street Bar Grill. Her
national singing appearances include Philip Marie in New York
and The Hilton in Las Vegas.

Abroad, she spent three months performing at Le Sporting
and Le Cabaret in Monte Carlo. She also toured as a solo
artist in Japan, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal and France. In
Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia, she toured with the
dynamic international girl’s singing group “The Love
Machine”.

Cheryl Carter has Guest Starred and co-starred on numerous television shows including the Emmy Award winning “House,”“ER,”“TheCloser”,“CrossingJordan,”“Monk”, “Huff” and most recently, “Shark”, “Eli Stone”, and Showtime’s highly acclaimed series “Dexter”. She had recurring roles on “The Practice”, “The Bold and Beautiful” and as Congresswoman Haas in “The West Wing”.

“Osterman Weekend” directed by Sam Peckinpah, “Nightshift,” with Michael Keaton and Henry Winkler and “2010: Odyssey Two,”
directed by Peter Hyams, with Helen Mirren and Roy Scheider were among her favorites film roles. (See Acting Page).

Cheryl’s passion for theatre led to her portraying Lena Horne, in the Musical Murder Mystery, DARK LEGENDS IN BLOOD at The Wiltern, BB King’s Blues Club and the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. She also played, Lucy Lockit, in Duke Ellington’s Broadway show, BEGGAR’S HOLIDAY. She received critical acclaim for her role as Leone in the world premier opera, BURNING DREAMS, at San Diego Repertory and as Aldonza in MAN OF LA MANCHA.

In the sensational musical anthology, VOICES, at the Embassy Theatre, Cheryl Carter played the dual roles of Lena Horne and Marian Anderson. Flexing her “legit” vocal talents, Cheryl sang the role of Woman, in the improvisational opera ORIGINS.

Rounding out her professional career Cheryl Carter’s speaking voice can be heard on radio and television voice-overs and commercials. She also is the voice of Marsha Carmichael in the animated series “RUGRATS”, Justice Dept. Attorney, Christina Brannon in “LAW & ORDER” CD-Rom game and Storm in the “X-MEN” DVD PlayStation game.
